I founded Hoopla in 2023 as a result of my lifelong struggle with anxiety and panic attacks. Despite countless therapies, relief was always temporary. It wasn’t until I turned 30, through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, haptic therapy, and meditation, that I realized the tools to manage my anxiety were within me all along.
But motherhood brought it all back—sleepless nights, tantrums, and big emotions reignited my anxiety. I struggled to respond to my children’s feelings because I was too busy reacting to my own. I needed tools for both my children and myself.
As I searched for solutions, I realized I wasn’t alone. Parents everywhere were facing the same challenges, and the demand for effective tools for families was rising. Yet, the available options consistently fell short, or were too expensive.
Then it hit me—what if the smartphone, often seen as a barrier and source of stress, could be transformed into an accessible, affordable and effective tool for calm and connection?
This realization, backed by extensive research, led to Hoopla. In collaboration with healthcare providers and educators, we created a preventative tool with engaging, age-appropriate activities to help parents guide their children's emotional regulation and social-emotional learning.
At Hoopla, our vision is simple: to bring joy, calm, and connection to every family. I’m excited to share this journey and bring Hoopla to families everywhere!

Hoopla is a mental wellness app to help children and parents manage emotions, build emotional resilience, and strengthen family connections through engaging, age-appropriate activities.
"Hoopla" refers to excitement, commotion, or fuss—things that children naturally bring to life but adults often lose touch with. We chose this name to capture the playful energy and joyful noise that make childhood so special. At Hoopla, we’re all about celebrating this vibrant spirit while focusing on emotional growth and connection, bringing a sense of fun and liveliness back into family life.
Hoopla provides a variety of activities that combine sensory feedback, cognitive behavioral techniques, and social-emotional learning to help children master emotional regulation. Each 5-minute activity is quick, interactive, and effective—perfect for daily practice to build healthy habits or as an instant calming tool for managing anxiety or stress on the spot.
Hoopla is designed for children ages 3-8 and their parents, but many of our users have found it to be a wonderful tool for families with siblings of all ages. It's a fun way for the whole family to connect and strengthen sibling bonds.
Hoopla focuses on creating a shared experience between parent and child. Using sensory feedback and evidence-based techniques, Hoopla turns screen time into a tool for bonding, not just calming. The app is designed to extend beyond the screen, encouraging active play, meaningful conversations, and skill-building that continue long after the activity ends.
Yes, Hoopla is designed with child safety in mind. The app does not include ads or addictive features and is focused on creating a positive and healthy digital experience.
Hoopla offers a range of activities focused on calming, breathing, affirmations, energy release, and sleep. Our content is divided into two main categories: Calming Sensory Tools and Parent-Child Connection Activities. We regularly add new exercises and categories to keep the experience fresh and engaging.
We don’t recommend this. Hoopla’s purpose is to strengthen the parent-child connection and support your child’s emotional growth. While calming sensory tools can be used semi-independently, they still rely on you recognizing your child's stress and guiding them to the app. Daily parent-child connection activities are designed to be done together. That’s why we suggest using Hoopla on your phone, not a tablet. Hoopla isn’t a babysitter—you won’t get extra work done or time alone, but you will deepen your connection and reflect on your own emotions and tech habits.
Each activity is designed to be completed in under 5 minutes, making them easy to fit into daily routines.
No, all activities are designed to be completed using just your smartphone, yourself and your child. There are no additional materials or equipment required.
Hoopla transforms screen time into a positive experience with under 5-minute activities that promote emotional growth and connection, starting on the phone and extending into real-world play. While we use points and notifications, they’re designed to support healthy habits—points are linked to rewards set by parents and children, and notifications are gentle reminders. Our focus is on fostering eye contact, recognizing facial expressions, and meaningful conversations to build real connection.
Over time, Hoopla helps children develop emotional resilience, social-emotional learning skills, and healthier relationships with their parents, setting a strong foundation for lifelong mental wellness.
